Air battle near Nynäsnamn, Sweden May 1940 (What if)

Today I played a solo game of CY-6 (Check Your Six), the scenario was designed by me to represent a photo recon mission being conducted over Sweden. In reality it is a scenario that would kick off a full scale war, that never happened, between Sweden and Germany in 1940.

The scenario I designed states the Swedish can not fire unless fired upon. The Germans rolled once within range of the first J8 fighter and they rolled the required score to fire on the Swedish fighters. That is exactly what happened in this battle.

The Swedish J-8 approached the incoming He-111 and then split up to allow for a better attack. The first hit was scored by the He-111 side gunner who was able to score a air frame damage to the J8.  The other J8, piloted by a Winter War vet was able to close on the He-111 and was able to score two hits on the German He-111 both hits were in the engines.  The Bomber was not able to score any hits on the last J8.

The German crew was able to escape there crippled He-111 and were later captured by local members of the Swedish Home Guard.

The J8 that was injured had a poor landing but survived the battle, but his plane was severely damaged by the combat and the poor landing.  The J8 piloted by Pilot Captain Kaj Svensson landed without a problem and was able to paint a German cross on his aircraft's tail to celebrate the confirmed shoot down of the German bomber.

Of course this would start the beginning of a wider war that was just waiting for a spark to start the fire. The Germans were the first to shoot. I have a few ideas for follow on scenarios in different parts of Sweden.

15mm tanks for Seven Days to the River Rhine

Hi everyone,

Well you may see that I am doing a lot of painting for different games and different scales. Some of the projects I am working on will be long term projects and some are planned to be short. This is one of those projects. 

Recently I read a review of the rules "Seven Says to the River Rhine" and I liked what I heard and I decided to get a copy. I have never been a fan of some of the other rules for the cold war gone hot but these rules seem to meet my likes.

I am also trying something new. I have ordered some 3d Printed 15mm Tanks and APC's, from BPM miniatures. I got 3 S-tanks, one BMP-2, and 2 T-72's o try out.  So far I am happy with them, there is a little processing and cleaning up that needs to be done but after that they paint up nice.

I have painted up the Soviet vehicles. They came out pretty good. I will start working on the S-tanks soon. I have read from a fellow gamer at the club that some of the members of my local club are starting to play some games of Seven Days to the River Rhine.  I have a BTR-80 and some other modern infantry painted up from some of my other games.  

 I hope to get more figures painted up to get into a game at the club.

More 3mm Swedish for the 1808-1809 Swedish Russian War.

Hi everyone.
Sorry for not posting much in the last month. I have been to China and work has been keeping me very busy.

I have had some time to work on more 3mm Infantry and now I have a total of 4 battalions of Infantry and one Artillery battery. I also painted up a single ADC.  I have plans to paint up the command stands and then switch over to painting the Russians.

Some painting during the last month.

Hi again!

I have been pretty busy with work and other activities but I did get some painting done.

Here are four Motor Torpedo Boats (MTB) that I painted up as some of the Swedish MTB's that were made in Sweden during WW2.  These are 3mm miniatures and were easy to paint and they look
 good.

I also painted a 20mm tankett that was also built in Sweden during WW2.

Painting and rebasing 15mm WW2 miniatures

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not posting more often but I have been pretty busy with a number of different projects and activities. 

Today I will show you a recent purchase from a member of my wargaming club. It was a great buy as I received two boxes of terrain as well as Italian and Finnish miniatures painted up as Swedish to add to my one squad of Swedish infantry I painted up. I also got some more Swedish vehicles and tanks.

Also included in the deal was a whole bunch of Soviet infantry and Tanks.  The only thing I am doing with all this is rebasing and giving them a quick brushing with some dull coat.

So here are the Swedish Infantry that I have painted and the ones that I purchased. In all I now have just under a Platoons worth of Infantry. I just need to paint up two LMG's and the Platoon leader base and I will be done with the Swedish.

I also got some 15mm miniatures and a cool ass E-75 tank from HEER 46.  The tank looks awesome. I will do a separate post once I start working on the tank.
