GNW Campaign game

Well on Monday we had a club meeting and then we had some time to play the first game of our clubs Great Northern War Campaign.

Each player controlled a single unit, most painted by the person who controlled the unit in the battle.

The Russians were played by Soren.  He did a good job of making it a hard fight.  The game was very good and the Swedish pushed hard.

We were able to coordinate our Infantry and Cavalry attacks so that we were eventually able to push the Russians back and the end of the battle saw a fight to kill the Russian Artillery unit that was giving everyone a hard time and survived multiple attacks from infantry and cavalry.

Eventually the Gun crew was killed off and the game was over.

Enjoy and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

  3. Handsome layout and stunning troops! GNW must be an up and coming period for wargaming. Two other blogs I followe are either painting for or gaming the period.

    1. Yes I have also noticed the increase in post about the period. I think it has to do with some new product lines being released. Also we have a group of Wargamers here in Stockholm that are taking the time to re fight some of the Wars that Sweden fought. As and American it is good to see because a lot of Swedish people don't know how great of a world power Sweden was at one time.

    1. come on in the water is warm... yes I know that is how I got into the GNW, I saw all the great uniforms and I was hooked. The great thing is that I had to paint only on unit to be able to play since the rest of the miniatures are painted by the other participants.
