Happy Gustavus Adolphus Day! Plus half of my Anglo Saxon 6mm Army.

Well the title says it all!

Today in Sweden it is a Holiday, yes on a Sunday but it is a holiday and all the Swedish Flags are flying to celebrate Gustavus Adolphus Day.  If you want more info on this holiday check out this link: Gustavus Adolphus Day

To celebrate the Swedish people enjoy a little cake. I got four for the four of us and hopefully all will enjoy the treat on this cold dark snow day.

I also had some time since getting back from Paris to work on some of my 6mm Anglo Saxon Army to fight against my Viking Army using the Sword and Spear rules.
Here they all are!

A side view of the troops in action!

It is only half of the Army as there was an error by Baccus when they packed up my order and they left out the unarmored infantry.  Hopefully I will get the missing troops in soon so I can finish up this Army.

The Mounted Thegns

The shields look good!

Waiting for battle!

Well here are the pictures of what I have done so far.

Here are the Thegns ready to add a flag to there flag pole!

Ready to fight some Vikings!

Can you see the axes on there backs?

Next we have the Javelinmen

Some light troops to screen the main Anglo Saxon Army.

The miniatures are full of motion!

Last but not least are the slingers.

Well that is all I have for today. I have a busy week ahead so I might not get too much painting done.

Have a good week!

  2. Complete novice to wargaming, who recently bought his first 28mm figures for a skirmish game of "Witchfinder General: Days Of Revelation", to play with my young son. Painting has started...

The 6mm figures look great, and give the best appearance, of all the scales, of massed ranks for big battles. Great job!

Gustavus Adolphus Day - wow. I've lived in Norrland for the past eight years (English exile!) and I had no idea. I'll shame my Swedish friends next year and fly the flag myself!

    1. Thank you for the message. Welcome to a very addictive hobby!!! I have looked at the rules for Witchfinder General in the past but I have not bought a copy of the rules yet. They look like a fun set of rules.
I also like the 6mm for large scale battles.
Thanks again and keep warm up in Norrland! I am an American expat.
