28mm PBR for Vietnam War

Long time no blog. Sorry about that but I have been posting "mini blogs" over on Twitter. So what has been going on? Well quiet a bit actually so I will try to get caught up on the projects I have been working on over the next few weeks.

First up is this Boat!

 

It is an American PBR (Patrol Boat River) from the Vietnam war era. This is the fist time I have tried to build a kit like this. Most of the parts are a combination of cardboard and laser cut MDF. This kit comes from Sarissa Precision Limited in the UK and It was pretty easy to put together. I thought it would be a good option for transporting troops to the battlefield then using Helicopters. 

Unfortunately the kit does not come with the weapons needed to arm the PBR but I was able to find a company that makes the weapons I needed to be able to arm the PBR. I added a dual mounted .50 machine gun to the bow turret, I also added a stand alone .50 machine gun mounted on the aft of the boat and I also added an M-60 machine gun mounted in the mid section of the ship. The only weapon system I  wanted that I could not find was the .40 MM Grenade Launcher that was also mounted mid ship. 

 

After putting everything together and giving it a few coats of paint the boat was basically done. I did not do a great job on building it but I learned a lot from this and I have one more boat to build in the near future. When I build that one I will get a Navy Crew to man the boat as well.

Back from Vacation

Hi all!

Sorry for not posting much during the month of May. I was in the USA to see my yourngest Daughter fraduate University.  It was a very good time and I was able to spend time with my family and some of my friends in the DC area.

I also got a new set of coin dies to make more Viking age coins, this set is of the first coin minted in Sweden, know as the King Olaf coin.

Fist pewter coins, next up is in Silver.

I will have a post up soon about a game of What a Tanker I ran at the club back in April.

Well this last week I had some time to paint up 8 more U.S. Army Rangers for a game that I will be playing at the club tonight.

Rangers Lead the Way!!!

Hi all!

Here are two 28mm Empress Miniatures U.S. Army Rangers. This is the first time I have painted the multicam camouflage pattern on anything. I am not sure how it looks but I am happy.

Of course they are using the Carl Gustav. I had to paint this first!

The end is near...

Hi again!

I hope you all had a good weekend. I was busy with family commitments but I had some time to work on the 6mm ACW Project.  I painted up the first of my Leven Miniatures 6mm ACW Buildings. I have enough to have all the buildings and a bridge for the Battle of 1st Bull Run. This is the "timber shack" building from there ACW line, I think it came out great.

I also painted up a confederate Brigade of Cavalry and two Head Quarters stands.  The tents are just thick card stock that I cut and folded to the desired shape.

You will also see the first of the 350 trees that I bought for the 6mm games that I enjoy.  I will work with some other basing materials to try to get the best results.
